Westville Dog Park

If you are looking for somewhere to entertain your furry friends, and to meet and socialize with human friends, then Westville Dog Park (Scout Bowl) is a fantastic place to meet!

The park was established 20 years ago by Ram Ramadeen, who saw the need for a fenced area where dogs could run free. Early mornings and evenings are popular times where you can find 12 – 15 dogs at any one time and on weekends up to 60 dogs have been seen joining in the fun! Some come as far as Durban North as Westville is the only place in the metro with a fenced dog park like this!

Dogs can run free in the large grassy area and you can also take a walk through the forest where yellow wood trees were planted by the scouts. The footpaths are maintained by the dog walkers, who have built steps to prevent erosion The forest and wetland areas are maintained by Westville Conservancy to keep them free of Invasive Alien Plants.

Puppies and new dogs to the park are inducted by the older dogs and discipline is always maintained, even with the owners who ensure that any doggy poop is cleared up using the poop scoops that are supplied. You won’t find any litter either as people using the park take pride in ensuring rubbish is picked up and taken home with them so the environment is always clean.

So if you haven’t visited the park yet, come and join us and you and your fur babies are sure to make new friends!
