Wedelia or Singapore Daisy, Sphagneticola trilobata
This plant is invasive throughout South Africa and is also considered one of the world’s worst 100 invasive species. Wedelia is a mat forming, creeping perennial herb that reproduces mainly vegetatively – i.e. where stems touch the ground they will form roots and new plants grow. Leaves are dark green above and paler underneath, hairy with serrated edges. The bright yellow, daisy-like flowers are distinctive
Flowering period: All year round
To eradicate this plant: This invasive plant is very hardy and is tough to remove! Dig out by the roots and place in plastic bags to rot before adding to compost. Careful and selective foliar spraying is effective. Constant follow up is required.
Hi. I’m looking for some Wedelia plants. Can you help?

Hi Gail, Wedelia is a highly Invasive Alien Plant and should actually be destroyed, not planted. Where were you thinking of planting Wedelia? We could suggest an indigenous alternative? Regards
Sue
Gazania ripens could be a good alternative
